Position Overview:
Under general supervision, the plumbing technician is responsible for diagnosing, servicing, and installing plumbing systems in residential and light-commercial settings. This role requires adherence to relevant codes and standards. The technician will assemble, install, or repair pipes, fittings, or fixtures related to heating, water, or drainage systems while ensuring customer satisfaction through effective communication and problem resolution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and resolve plumbing issues promptly and professionally, preventing future complications.
- Maintain and repair plumbing systems, including water, steam, and fuel lines, by replacing defective components and clearing blockages.
- Assemble and install pipe sections and fittings using various tools and techniques.
- Determine installation locations for pipes and fixtures, ensuring compliance with building codes.
- Install and connect plumbing fixtures, appliances, and systems using hand and power tools.
- Review technical drawings and specifications to plan installations effectively.
- Conduct pressure tests on plumbing systems to identify leaks.
- Supervise and guide assistants in plumbing tasks.
- Ensure the proper maintenance and accountability of company tools and vehicles.
- Maintain relevant plumbing licenses in accordance with regulations.
- Follow standard operating procedures and maintain inventory of necessary supplies.
- Represent the company with professionalism and integrity in all interactions.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Health & Safety Responsibilities:
- Report unsafe conditions or practices to management immediately.
- Comply with all safety protocols and use personal protective equipment as required.
- Participate in safety initiatives and report any incidents promptly.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent, with formal training in plumbing.
- A minimum of four years of experience in plumbing installation and repair.
- Knowledge of plumbing codes and regulations.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency with plumbing tools.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Effective communication and customer service skills.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Willingness to work flexible hours as needed.
- Physical ability to perform the job, including lifting and maneuvering in various environments.
