Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator - Senior to join our team at the City of Surprise, AZ. As a key member of our Water Resource Management department, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining our water reclamation facilities, reclaimed water systems, and recharge basins and wells.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain water reclamation facilities, reclaimed water systems, and recharge basins and wells
  • Monitor treatment processes and perform laboratory analyses
  • Inspect equipment and perform troubleshooting activities
  • Take compliance samples and keep regulatory records
  • Perform minor maintenance and use a computerized maintenance management system
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Two years of wastewater utilities experience
  • Valid Arizona driver license
  • Arizona State Grade 2 Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator and Grade 1 Wastewater Collections System Operator Certification
Preferred Qualifications
  • SCADA knowledge and experience
  • Work management system experience
  • Laboratory testing knowledge and experience
  • Solids handling knowledge and experience
  • Wastewater treatment experience
  • Basic biology and/or chemistry knowledge
  • Customer service experience
  • Computer skills
  • Safety knowledge
