Job Summary:
OSF HealthCare is seeking a Polysomnographic Technician Trainee to join our team. As a Polysomnographic Trainee, you will develop competency in and perform the basics of polysomnographic testing and associated interventions under clinical guidance of a Polysomnographic Technologist.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Medical Director, Leadership, staff, and patients to achieve optimal efficiency and success in sleep disorder function testing and scoring.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of polysomnographic testing procedures, including EEG, EMG, and EOG.
- Perform polysomnographic testing and associated interventions under clinical guidance.
- Collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative statistical data to conduct diagnostic procedures.
- Develop and maintain strong interpersonal skills to explain procedures to patients and alleviate their apprehensions.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED
- BLS certified or obtained within 6 months of hire
- Interpersonal skills necessary to explain procedures to patients
- Ability to collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative statistical data
Preferred Qualifications:
- An associate's degree in an allied healthcare field (Respiratory care or Neurodiagnostics)
- 6 months of direct patient care experience
