Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Lab Animal Care Technician to join our team at InsideHigherEd. As a key member of our animal care team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care and support to our research animals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer medications as prescribed by veterinarians and consult with clinical veterinary staff on treatment options.
  • Assist veterinarians with procedures, including premedication, anesthesia prep, post-op treatment, and recovery of animals.
  • Identify and restrain animals for physical and eye exams, and maintain meticulous animal health records in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Order food and supplies as needed, and perform basic animal grooming and immunizations.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; 2-3 years of experience as a Lab Animal Care Technician in a research setting preferred.
  • AALAS certification a plus.
  • Ability to lift over 50 pounds on a routine basis, and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and holidays, and a valid driver's license.
