About Chileda Institute Inc.

Role Summary:
The Speech-Language Pathologist plays a crucial role in assisting students and residents at Chileda who experience challenges with speech and language. This position emphasizes Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and caters to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, while also addressing a diverse range of communication needs across various age groups, from six to twenty-one years.
Work Schedule:
This position offers flexibility, available as either full-time or part-time, typically scheduled Monday through Friday, from 8 AM to 4 PM.
Qualifications:
A Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology is required, along with a Wisconsin License for Speech and Language Pathology or the ability to obtain one within a year of employment. Experience with individuals who have developmental disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and attachment challenges is highly valued.
Key Responsibilities:
- Formulate speech and language objectives for student Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and treatment strategies.
- Track and document student progress during therapy sessions.
- Develop and maintain visual communication tools for students, utilizing both low-tech and high-tech methods.
- Provide training to support staff on the implementation of visual communication strategies.
