We are seeking a skilled Technical Buyer to join our team at Plasma-Therm. As a Technical Buyer, you will be responsible for procuring materials, component parts, equipment, and services to support our manufacturing and customer service requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and issue purchase orders for complex or specialized parts to support production schedules and departmental requirements.
- Liaise with Engineering and Design groups on product specifications and ensure timely delivery of materials.
- Prepare and issue Request for Quotes (RFQs) and input information received into our MRP system to determine secondary sourcing and price quantity breaks.
- Place orders, select the most appropriate sources of supply, and negotiate terms of sale to meet schedule and pricing objectives.
- Seek out and qualify new vendors to support our supply chain and mitigate single-source supply risks.
- Coordinate corrective actions with vendors regarding adjustments, incorrect material, or delivery problems.
- Maintain a working knowledge of product lines and applications.
- Develop and maintain effective vendor relations.
- Assist in evaluating vendor reliability by reporting vendor quality, dependability, and price performance.
- Mentor less experienced buyers and perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma required; Bachelor's degree in Business or related discipline preferred.
- Minimum five years of closely related purchasing experience.
- Proficient in MRP systems and computer-based programs such as Excel, Word, Project, etc.
