Job Overview

This role reports directly to the Branch Executive Director and is chiefly accountable for the overall condition and presentation of the YMCA branch facilities. The aim is to ensure that the premises are maintained in a clean, safe, and well-repaired state.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintenance and Repair: Oversee the general upkeep and repair of basic building systems, components, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Emergency Response: Be prepared to address events or emergencies outside of regular hours as necessary.
Qualifications
  • Education: A High School Diploma is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
  • Licensing: A valid Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle for work purposes are mandatory.
Experience
  • Prior experience in facilities management is essential. Educational qualifications may supplement years of experience.
  • Certification in a major discipline such as electrical, HVAC, plumbing, or building design is preferred.
Physical Requirements

The physical demands outlined here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position:

  • Ability to lift heavy equipment (e.g., mowers, snow blowers, tools).
  • Capability to operate machinery and tools effectively.
  • Willingness to work under summer conditions, which may include six-day work weeks and on-call responsibilities.
Skills and Competencies
  • Experience in property management, preventative maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, pool maintenance, and housekeeping.
  • Ability to supervise and guide individuals in the maintenance department to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and maintenance.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, a strong motivation, and a positive attitude towards the YMCA and its mission are essential.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Conduct general building and grounds maintenance, including minor carpentry, cleaning, electrical work, furniture assembly, landscaping, masonry, painting, plumbing, snow removal, and inventory control.
  • Ensure the proper operation and documentation of all building systems, including fire alarms, security systems, emergency lighting, and HVAC systems.
  • Manage the contracting process for maintenance and repair of building systems, including scope development, competitive bidding, and implementation.
  • Act as the primary liaison with program directors for compliance with local, state, and federal inspections and certifications.
  • Collaborate with the Aquatics Director to ensure the functionality of pool, steam, and sauna systems, assisting with complex repairs and replacements.
  • Inspect the building envelope for structural integrity, including masonry, roofing, and access points.
  • Participate in the annual Capital Improvement Program in collaboration with Branch Leadership and the Facilities Department.
