With a team of over 600 professionals, the hospital provides a comprehensive range of medical and surgical services, including a 24-hour emergency department equipped with advanced diagnostic capabilities and specialty care.
Position Overview
VMC Paramedic:
The Paramedic plays a vital role within the healthcare team, delivering care to patients who are ill or injured. Key responsibilities include:
- Providing patient care that involves stabilization and intervention techniques in accordance with established protocols.
- Collaborating with team members to ensure high standards of care.
- Meeting educational and skill requirements as set forth by the Medical Director.
- Performing additional duties as required.
EastCare Transport Paramedic:
The Transport Paramedic is an integral member of the Advanced Life Support (ALS) transport team, tasked with the care of patients during transport. Responsibilities include:
- Conducting patient assessments and implementing stabilization and intervention techniques.
- Exercising independent judgment to provide appropriate care when direct communication with a medical command physician is not feasible.
- Working collaboratively with the transport team to uphold the highest standards of patient care.
- Meeting educational and experiential requirements as outlined by the Medical Director.
- Carrying out additional assigned duties.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Graduation from an accredited Paramedic program is necessary.
- Current certification as a Paramedic in North Carolina (EMT-P Certification) is mandatory.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification is required.
- For EastCare, ACLS and PALS certifications must be obtained prior to completing orientation.
Work Schedule
- Part Time - Night Shift [3pm-3am]
- Standard Hours: 24
- On Call: NO
- Weekends: ROTATING
