Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Early Childhood Educator to join our team at Ascension Via Christi. As a Child Development Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and education to our young students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement engaging child care and educational activities for assigned children.
  • Ensure instructional activities are developmentally appropriate and reflect individual interests.
  • Complete required lesson plans and maintain accurate and timely documentation of all required activities and interactions.
  • Maintain positive communications with child's parents/guardians and incorporate their recommendations into child's daily routine.

Requirements

  • Licensure / Certification / Registration:
    • Food Service Professional credentialed from the ServSafe National Restaurant Association obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
    • Heart Saver AED credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
    • Licensed Teacher preferred.
  • Education:
    • Based on Kansas State Regulations, one or more of the following is required:
      • 1) A child development associate credential, OR;
      • 2) An A.B. or B.S degree in child development or early childhood education, including a supervised practicum; and three months teaching experience in licensed centers or preschools, OR;
      • 3) An A.B. or B.S degree in a related academic discipline, and 12 hours of academic study or equivalent training in child development, early childhood education, curriculum resources, nutrition, child guidance, parent education, supervised practicum and administration of early childhood programs and six months teaching experience in licensed centers or preschools.

Additional Preferences

  • Minimum one year experience in KDHE-licensed center required.
  • Must have relevant degree, CDA, or 12 related credits paired with observed practicum in order to qualify.
  • Previous work with Kindergarten students strongly preferred.
