Clinical Educator Specialist

McLean Hospital seeks a dedicated Clinical Educator Specialist to support clinical staff in implementing curriculum instruction and maintaining a safe and nurturing environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to the Gunderson program and flexibility. This role involves maintaining a commitment to professional growth and competency, exhibiting positive behavior towards clients, parents, and staff. The Clinical Educator Specialist will model appropriate social cues and facilitate clients to do the same. Additionally, they will perform supervisory and technical duties as assigned and be responsive to issues presented in supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the implementation of academic work and behavior cueing within the milieu
- Observe behaviors and make necessary interventions to maintain the safety of all clients and staff
- Attend weekly staff meetings
- Provide milieu supervision
- Report any client incidents/concerns to the Program Director, Clinical Director, and/or the Milieu Manager
- Interact with clients and family members in a courteous and professional manner
- On-site skills coaching for suicidality, self-injury, and emotional dysregulation
- Group coverage for up to 10 residents
Career Advancement Opportunities:
After 90 days, the Clinical Educator Specialist will be eligible for intensive training in DBT/CBT.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
The Clinical Educator Specialist will provide supervision to Junior Counselors.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree and significant experience working with emotionally/behaviorally disturbed adults are preferred.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Patient interface
- Learning DBT/CBT/MBT skills and basic treatment concepts
- Flexibility, excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- The ability to work with multi-disciplinary staff and exhibit positive teamwork
- Continuing to learn and apply current treatments
