Senior Heavy Equipment Technician

Job Overview

A Senior Heavy Equipment Technician is responsible for executing advanced mechanical repairs and maintenance on heavy-duty vehicles and construction machinery. This role involves supervising and mentoring junior mechanics while ensuring high-quality standards in all repair tasks.


Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough inspections and diagnostics on diesel engines and various machinery.
  • Manage complex repairs on heavy equipment, including but not limited to pavers, rollers, and skid steers.
  • Perform welding tasks and fabricate metal components as required.
  • Respond to field service requests with a focus on quality and efficiency.
  • Provide guidance and training to fellow mechanics, fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repairs using work order tracking systems.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and company policies.
  • Communicate effectively with management regarding equipment status and repair needs.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and perform repairs at various job sites as necessary.

Qualifications
  • Proficient in small engine repairs and large diesel engines, including CAT and CUMMINS.
  • Experienced with hydraulic systems and schematics.
  • Ability to work in diverse environments and adapt to various physical demands.
  • Strong leadership skills and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to remain stationary for extended periods, as well as the capability to move and lift heavy objects. Candidates should be prepared to work in varying temperatures and outdoor conditions.


Working Conditions

The role may involve exposure to noisy environments and occasional hazardous conditions. Flexibility for shift work and overtime may be necessary.
