Key Responsibilities:
As an integral member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for:

  • Conducting comprehensive donor antigen testing and managing the inventory of antigen-negative blood products.
  • Resolving ABO/RH and antigen discrepancies through meticulous testing and analysis.
  • Performing critical laboratory procedures including freezing, washing, and deglycerolizing blood components.
  • Ensuring timely and accurate laboratory testing in compliance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Utilizing computerized systems for data entry, extraction, and report preparation.
  • Maintaining a robust inventory of liquid antigen-negative blood products.
  • Troubleshooting and addressing technical issues related to laboratory equipment and testing protocols.
  • Keeping precise and organized records of all laboratory activities.
  • Executing Quality Control (QC) measures for equipment and reagents.
  • Investigating and documenting ABO/RH and antigen discrepancies.
  • Handling the freezing and thawing processes for red blood cell (RBC) products.
  • Performing additional related duties as required.

Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Medical Technology, or a closely related discipline.
  • Compliance with New York State Department of Education Licensing requirements for Clinical Lab Technologists.
  • Preferred experience in a laboratory setting, particularly within a Blood Bank environment.
  • The ability to work autonomously with minimal oversight.
  • In-depth knowledge of laboratory practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Familiarity with computerized research databases.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Compensation:
The proposed hourly salary for this position varies based on experience and location, with a range reflecting local market conditions.
