Job Title: Senior SAS Programmer

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior SAS Programmer to support our Data Insights Team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in SAS programming and administration, with experience in creating Excel and PDF reports using Base SAS.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in requirements and design sessions, then develop and implement new system components or fixes to resolve system defects using business intelligence software and related tools.
  • Read and understand business requirements, seek clarification to unclear requirements, follow standard change control and configuration management practices, and conform to departmental application development standards and systems life cycle.
  • Incorporate source code reuse wherever possible.
  • Set up and execute component tests as well as track and document system defects.
  • Participate in software design and programming reviews.
  • Recommend improvements to design and programming standards, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Perform other related assigned duties as necessary to complete the Primary Job Responsibilities as described above.
  • Participate in 24-hour on-call rotation in support of the platform.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree with coursework in computer science, information systems, engineering, or related field and five years' related work experience in applications design and programming. Will accept any suitable combination of education, training, or experience.
  • Position requires 5+ years of advanced knowledge of SAS programming and administration.
  • 3+ years of relational database concepts and SQL.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex problems.
  • Self-Starter, ability to communicate equally with business and technical staff.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in the insurance industry, specifically with the healthcare industry.
  • Experience in system administration and on-call processes.
