As a Senior Frontend Developer, you will be responsible for the strategic planning, design, development, monitoring, and support of both new and existing software and lightning applications within our On-Device Commerce engineering team. Your role will encompass the prioritization, planning, design, development, testing, deployment, and support of software and middleware applications in a continuous operational environment. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of high-level strategic thinking and attention to detail, with a solid understanding of problem-solving across various dimensions. You will work closely with business partners, product teams, program management, and other engineering teams to clarify project requests, discuss scope and budget, and agree on timelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with project stakeholders to determine product and technical requirements, conducting thorough analyses to identify integration needs.
  • Design innovative software and web applications, support ongoing development, and customize existing applications. Establish a process for updating software applications and assist in the deployment of software releases.
  • Provide mentorship and training to junior Software Development Engineers on proprietary software applications.
  • Oversee the creation and editing of documentation and technical requirements, including evaluation plans, test results, technical manuals, and formal reports.
  • Stay updated with technological advancements in the industry, monitoring competitive applications and products while reviewing relevant literature and practices.
  • Deliver technical leadership throughout the design process, offering guidance on practices, procedures, and techniques. Act as a mentor for junior Software Development Engineers.
  • Assist in tracking and evaluating performance metrics, ensuring timely delivery of software that meets specifications and budget constraints.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to verify that applications meet specifications and technical requirements.
  • Exhibit expertise in engineering methodologies, concepts, and skills, applying them within your engineering specialty.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in process design and redesign, presenting and defending architectural and design choices to internal stakeholders.
  • Exercise independent judgment and discretion in significant matters.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance, with the ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as necessary.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Essential Technical Skills

  • Proficient in Lightning Application development and JavaScript/NodeJS.
  • Experience with GitHub for version control and collaboration.
  • Expertise in integrating with various back-end service architectures, including RESTful APIs and GraphQL.
  • Knowledge of web performance optimization techniques.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging capabilities.
  • Familiarity with Linux.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with ELK - Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana.
  • Knowledge of Amazon Web Services.
  • Familiarity with Concourse.
  • Experience in Scrum/Agile methodologies and tools like JIRA and Confluence.
