Job Title: Yard AssociateJob Summary:

As a Yard Associate at Wood Shed Lumber & Hardware, you will play a vital role in maintaining a positive representation of our company by providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a clean and efficient lumberyard. Your primary responsibility will be to assist customers, both in person and on the phone, and provide them with the best possible experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide outstanding customer service by answering customer inquiries, helping them find merchandise, and suggesting add-on sales to complete their project.
  • Process special orders and assist with price lookup and order entry using our point-of-sale systems.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly lumberyard by performing housekeeping tasks as needed and creating an inviting environment for customers.
  • Notify customers of upcoming promotions and new products to keep them informed and engaged.
  • Assist with taking regular inventory of stock and loading customers' vehicles with the correct products.
  • Help yard staff with other tasks as needed and be vigilant in identifying shoplifters and other types of theft.
  • Attend all staff meetings and adhere to all store policies and safety standards.
Requirements:
  • Excellent customer service skills and a professional attitude.
  • A working knowledge of our products with a willingness to continue learning and expanding your knowledge.
  • Organized and self-motivated with strong math, reading, writing, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of effective sales methods and techniques, as well as the ability to safely operate a forklift.
  • Ability to lift up to 80lbs on a regular basis.

  • Continually expand your knowledge of all departments, both in the lumberyard and retail store.
  • Become a versatile employee, able to help in other areas as needed.
  • After gaining experience, become a mentor to new employees and help them understand products and retail concepts.
