Position Overview:

Role Responsibilities:
The Psychiatrist III will engage in advanced psychiatric evaluations and will report directly to the Medical Director of the State Hospital. Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting comprehensive psychiatric assessments and providing appropriate treatment to patients.
  • Administering specialized psychiatric interventions and monitoring patient progress.
  • Collaborating with the Recovery Team to ensure individualized recovery plans are effectively implemented.
  • Leading discussions in team meetings to promote necessary changes and improvements in patient care.
  • Participating in various committees to establish guidelines and standards of care.
  • Providing mentorship and guidance to multidisciplinary teams involved in patient care.

Essential Functions:
Regular attendance and flexibility in work hours are essential. The Psychiatrist III will:

  • Utilize a multidisciplinary approach to assess and treat individuals, ensuring adherence to established protocols.
  • Conduct performance improvement reviews and participate in audits to uphold quality standards.
  • Develop and document individualized psychiatric recovery plans that align with patients' needs and preferences.
  • Engage in continuous communication with medical staff and families to facilitate effective treatment strategies.
  • Stay updated with training and compliance requirements to provide the highest quality of psychiatric services.

Qualifications:
Applicants must possess an M.D. or D.O. and hold a valid medical license in Texas. Board certification or completion of a four-year psychiatry residency program is required, along with a minimum of three years of experience in the field.

Additional Information:
This position may involve participation in disaster response efforts and requires compliance with immunization policies. Candidates will undergo a background check and drug screening as part of the hiring process.
