Precision EDM Machinist

Position: EDM Machinist - Millersburg Facility

Shift: 3rd Shift - Sunday to Thursday - 11 PM to 7 AM

Compensation: Hourly Rate - $28-33 per hour Plus $1.50 for Shift Differential - Based on Experience

The EDM Machinist role is essential for those who possess the ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to manufacture components with precise dimensions and tolerances. This position demands expertise in transforming raw materials into finished products. Proficiency in setting up and operating manual milling machines, lathes, and surface grinders is required, along with the capability to operate CNC mills and wire EDM machines to create parts. The role also involves generating CNC programming from component designs and modifying existing programs as necessary. Candidates must demonstrate strong time management skills to effectively meet project deadlines with minimal supervision.

• Interpret and understand technical drawings and blueprints to fabricate parts within specified tolerances, emphasizing geometric tolerances.
• Adhere to standard job travelers and established best practices.
• Perform hand tapping and thread chasing.
• Operate manual vertical Bridgeport-style mills for component manufacturing.
• Utilize manual lathes for turning components.
• Conduct surface grinding on both manual and CNC surface grinders.
• Run CNC mills and lathes, making necessary program adjustments.
• Create CNC programs for mills and lathes using machine interfaces or external software.
• Operate Wire EDM machines and implement basic program modifications.
• Develop programs for Wire EDM machines using machine interfaces or external software.
• Apply strong mathematical skills to calculate angles and distances accurately.
• Assemble and disassemble complex tooling and machinery.
• Ensure proper machine alignment and setup.
• Dress grinding wheels and tools as required.
• Measure dimensions of components and parts using various measuring tools.
• Calibrate and maintain measuring instruments.
• Identify machine functionality and perform maintenance as needed.
• Collaborate with engineers and designers during the fabrication process.
• Work independently with minimal supervision.
• Guide and instruct others in the proper operation of tools and machinery.
• Foster a cooperative team environment.
• Maintain a clean and safe workstation with a focus on safety.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• Associate's Degree in a technical field with a minimum of 10 years of experience in machine manufacturing, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and prints.
• Advanced measuring skills with tools such as machinist levels, dial calipers, micrometers, and CMMs.
• Expertise in manual machining techniques.
• Proficient in CNC and Wire EDM operations.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including bearings, gears, and actuators.
• Experience in CNC programming via machine interfaces and external software.
• Familiarity with 3D CAD (SolidWorks) and CAM (MasterCAM) software is a plus.
• Basic knowledge of electrical and pneumatic control systems.
• Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Knowledge of TPM and preventative maintenance practices.
• Detail-oriented with strong communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word is advantageous.
