Nursery Propagation Specialist

Job Summary

Walla Walla Nursery Co. is seeking a skilled Propagation Team Member to join our team. As a key member of our nursery team, you will be responsible for propagating new crops and caring for them through their early stages of growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Propagate new crops by hand, ensuring high-quality results.
• Prune and trim plants to promote healthy growth and development.
• Water, irrigate, or mist plants as needed to maintain optimal growing conditions.
• Assist in fertilization of plants to promote healthy growth and development.
• Weed plants in containers by hand to prevent competition for resources.
• Sort and dump dead, inferior, or surplus plants to maintain a healthy and productive nursery.
• Sort and consolidate plants in plugs and containers to optimize growing conditions.
• Group and cover plants for over-wintering to protect them from harsh weather conditions.
• Conduct ground maintenance, weeding in landscapes, and cleanup to maintain a safe and healthy working environment.
• Assist with inventory to ensure accurate tracking of plant stock.

Requirements

• Assume responsibility for learning the names of the plants grown by WWNC, including both Latin and cultivar names.
• Be energetic and able to work long shifts with minimal sitting.
• Be able to work in a standing position for 95% of a daily shift.
• Be able to bend and lift, using both arms repeatedly.
• Be able to grip, pinch, and carry/transport multiple potted plants.
• Be able to lift 50lbs.
• Be able to push/pull up to 800lb. wheeled racks.
• Be able to perform tasks with arms raised above shoulder level.
• Be able to perform tasks on low ladders.
• Be able to work in adverse and uncomfortable weather and temperatures, including temperatures below freezing and above 100*F.
• Be able to walk across uneven terrain.
