Job Summary

The KSOM Research Lab is seeking a highly skilled Research Laboratory Technician III to join its team. As a key member of the lab staff, you will be responsible for supervising unit employees and/or student workers, planning and conducting research experiments, and performing complex laboratory procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and train laboratory staff to ensure efficient and accurate execution of experiments
  • Plan and conduct research experiments, including designing and implementing protocols, and analyzing results
  • Perform complex laboratory procedures, including molecular biology and tissue culture experiments
  • Maintain accurate records of procedures and results
  • Provide input and updates on research progress and make recommendations for modifications
  • Operate and maintain sophisticated laboratory equipment
  • Control equipment and supply inventory and prepare chemical solutions for experimental use
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to lead and manage a team of laboratory technicians and graduate students
  • Strong scientific and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude
  • Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, and keep accurate records
  • Basic computer skills (Word, Excel) with the ability to learn additional programs specific to the research environment
  • Ability to perform basic calculations
Preferred Experience
  • At least three months of related experience, with previous experience in sterile tissue and cell culture
  • Genotyping and sequencing experience a plus
