Senior Ophthalmic Technician

Join SightMD, a rapidly growing integrated ophthalmic provider group, as a Senior Ophthalmic Technician. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional eye care to patients across New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut.

The Senior Ophthalmic Technician will assist our physicians with patient care and minor procedures, perform vision and ocular tests, and document exam details and physician findings in the electronic chart. This role requires strong interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends.

• Meet and greet patients, ensuring a positive and welcoming experience.
• Assist the physician with patient care and minor procedures, including assistance with minor surgical procedures.
• Perform vision and ocular tests, explaining procedures to patients and ensuring their understanding of all instructions.
• Document exam details and physician findings in the electronic chart, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
• Precept and train fellow technicians, promoting a culture of excellence and teamwork.
• Prepare, maintain, and clean treatment rooms and ophthalmic instruments, ensuring a safe and clean environment for patients.
• Report equipment malfunctions and perform ancillary testing and document results.
• Administer medications according to compliance standards, prioritizing patient safety and well-being.
• Maintain inventory and assist with equipment upkeep, ensuring optimal functionality and efficiency.
• Perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Excellent written, verbal, and listening skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues.
• Strong interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, and travel to various locations as needed.
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician or one (1) year of specialized ophthalmic experience.

• Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification preferred or enrolled within twelve (12) months of hire and completion within two (2) years of hire.
• Ophthalmic Scribe Certification (OSC) required or completion within 45 days of hire.
