Job Summary

Louisiana Tech University is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual to serve as a Student Retention Specialist in the College of Applied and Natural Science. The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting the University's goals to retain students, connect at-risk students to campus resources, and facilitate student success and persistence through advisement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective strategies and programs to enhance retention and student success
  • Assist students with social and academic transitions, providing guidance and support to ensure a smooth transition to university life
  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of on- and off-campus referral sources available to support students' needs
  • Provide advising support for students and collaborate with on-campus stakeholders to improve advising processes and procedures
  • Collect, interpret, and maintain college-specific data related to student retention and graduation rates
  • Collaborate with other Student Retention Specialists to ensure a cohesive and effective approach to student support
  • Maintain familiarity with the University's policies and procedures related to academic standards and expectations and student advancement
  • Develop effective programming and coordinate events and services to support student development, out-of-classroom learning, and academic progress
Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree or higher is required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Creative problem-solving skills
  • Ability to create, maintain, and interpret digital records
  • Fluency with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to professionally engage with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds
  • Commitment to equity and inclusion
  • Attitude that is responsive, positive, and flexible
