About the Role:

Penn Medicine is dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care, advancing medical research, and educating future healthcare professionals. As a Mental Health Associate Wing 5W, you will be part of an interdisciplinary treatment team providing clinical support and milieu management to patients with eating disorders. Your role will involve working collaboratively with healthcare professionals to ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide milieu management and clinical support to patients with eating disorders.
  • Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment by enforcing program rules and regulations.
  • Perform behavioral observations, complete unit rounds, and monitor patients as assigned.
  • Assist staff in ensuring patients attend scheduled program activities, including groups and meals.
  • Conduct room searches as ordered by physicians and in accordance with established protocols.
  • Assist in emergencies and codes according to established protocols.
  • Offer support and guidance to patients as needed.
  • Identify significant changes in patients' clinical status and communicate with the treatment team.
  • Obtain vital signs every shift.
  • Assist in processing new admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Plan and lead program activities, including recreational therapy and recovery tools groups.
  • Document each treatment session in accordance with documentation policies.
  • Coordinate daily patient walks and order supplies needed for patient activities.

Requirements:

  • Driver's License (Required)
  • Valid driver's license in employee's state of residence with a record in good standing with the State of NJ Department of Motor Vehicles.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers certification from American Heart Association (AHA) required
