Position Overview:

The Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse plays a crucial role in ensuring the provision of safe and effective patient care through the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This role involves delivering direct patient care within the defined scope of practice while overseeing and mentoring patient and family education as well as the activities of other nursing staff, all while upholding high standards of care in the Birthplace.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Respond promptly and accurately to changes in patient condition and treatment responses.
  • Ensure a safe environment for patients and visitors at all times.
  • Utilize the appropriate chain of command to address patient care concerns.
  • Provide comprehensive care to mothers and newborns during both antepartum and postpartum periods.

Required Qualifications:
  • Possession of a current and valid state RN License.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree is preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification to be obtained within 30 days and maintained thereafter.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification to be acquired within 90 days and kept current.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification to be obtained within 90 days and maintained.
  • Basic Fetal Monitoring certification to be achieved within 60 days of hire and kept current.
  • AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certificate to be obtained within 12 months.
  • AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring certificate is preferred.
  • STABLE certification is preferred.
