Emergency Response and Security Coordinator

General Overview:
This role is under the supervision of the Plant Protection Manager and falls within the Security Division. The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in emergency preparedness, educational initiatives, evacuations, and overall emergency management. Responsibilities include ensuring access control and safeguarding the physical security of various facilities. There may be opportunities to mentor and train junior staff members, providing a pathway for professional advancement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the formulation and execution of emergency and contingency operation plans, including reporting and response strategies.
- Act as the incident commander during crisis situations.
- Utilize fire and life safety equipment to support ongoing projects, emergency situations, and routine maintenance tasks.
- Serve as a communication link between HRL and local emergency services.
- Contribute to the training and development of HRL personnel, the emergency response team, and the Plant Protection Team.
- Perform additional duties as required.
- Assist with the management of badges and identification processes.
- Review and authorize general visitor access requests.
- Process and maintain security documentation.
- Organize and deliver security briefings, including new hire orientations, threat assessments, and incident reports.
- Support the establishment of a contracted security personnel force.
- Conduct regular assessments and inspections of physical security measures.
Required Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Visio).
- Familiarity with the National Incident Management System.
- Certification in First Aid, CPR/AED.
- Experience with SharePoint is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Wildland Firefighter training (S130/S190) is preferred.
- EMT Certification is a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Capability to develop and deliver instructional safety training programs to large audiences.
- Ability to work autonomously and see projects through to completion.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a Security or Emergency Operations role.
- Previous experience in both emergency and security operations is desirable.
- Experience in firefighting or EMT roles is beneficial.
- Knowledge of counterintelligence processes and experience in conducting related briefs and assessments.
Educational Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience or 7+ years of related work experience is required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to operate fire extinguishers, fire hoses, and other fire protection equipment.
- Capability to traverse hilly terrain for extended durations.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Special Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret/SCI security clearance with polygraph.
Compensation:
The salary range for this full-time position is between $65,610 and $80,030, plus bonuses and benefits. Salary is determined based on role, level, and location, with individual pay influenced by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
