Job Summary

Under the direction of a Pharmacist, this Pharmacy Technician role performs a variety of functions related to prescription preparation, storage, and dispensing. The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment, rotating through IV admixture and unit dose service, and may be required to work in OR Pharmacy Services and Outpatient Pharmacy Services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Fills medication orders, including oral, injectable, and topical medications, and intravenous admixtures.
  • Assists in the bulk manufacturing of special pharmaceutical products.
  • Prepares and distributes floor stock items in response to requisition forms.
  • Enters charges and credits into the computer for all medications and IV admixtures dispensed from the Pharmacy.
  • Distributes prepared medications to patient care areas and/or other departments of the Hospital.
  • Performs necessary record keeping functions.
  • Answers telephone and assists at Pharmacy window.
  • Maintains the work area in a safe, orderly manner.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience with sterile compounding and/or 6 months technician experience and/or graduate of an ASHP accredited technician training program preferred.
  • LIC-Pharmacy Technician - STATE_MI State of Michigan required upon hire.
Work Environment

This role is based at Dearborn Hospital, Oakwood Blvd, Dearborn, and requires a full-time commitment with variable hours, including every other weekend.
