Position Overview

The Pediatric Care Licensed Nurse (LPN/LVN) is a dedicated full-time professional, typically working an average of 36+ hours weekly within our specialized Pediatric Day Health Centers.

This role involves providing direct patient care under the guidance of a Registered Nurse, ensuring the delivery of safe and effective nursing services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Monitoring: Continuously observe and document the patient's condition through ongoing assessments.
  • Care Prioritization: Identify and prioritize patient care needs to ensure high-quality nursing services.
  • Communication: Alert the RN regarding any changes in the patient's condition, new physician directives, or adjustments in the care plan.
  • Implementation: Execute physician orders and relay any changes in patient status to the primary physician.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed nursing progress notes that reflect the care provided, including patient condition, treatment modifications, and family education.
  • Team Collaboration: Foster a cooperative relationship with the interdisciplinary health team.
  • Family Assessment: Evaluate family dynamics and provide support to facilitate adjustments to the child's medical or developmental challenges.
  • Patient Education: Offer teaching and counseling to families to aid in understanding their child's health issues.
  • Policy Compliance: Adhere to company policies and procedures while acting in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act.
  • Professional Communication: Maintain effective interpersonal communication skills in a professional manner.
  • Participation: Engage in case management meetings, staff discussions, and training sessions.
  • Initiative: Demonstrate problem-solving abilities and make sound nursing judgments.
  • Knowledge Update: Stay informed about current trends and advancements in pediatric care.
  • Orientation: Assist in training new staff members, serving as a resource.
  • Resource Awareness: Be knowledgeable about available resources and how to access them.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as assigned by supervisory personnel.
  • Confidentiality: Uphold patient and family confidentiality at all times.
  • Age-Appropriate Care: Coordinate activities suitable for various age groups and disabilities.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Be equipped to handle pediatric emergencies and necessary interventions.
Qualifications
  • Current licensure as a licensed nurse in the state.
  • No disciplinary actions related to nursing license.
  • Knowledge of specialized pediatric medical equipment and care techniques.
  • Current Basic Life Support Certification.
  • Evidence of a negative TB test or chest X-ray.
  • Satisfactory background check.
  • Understanding of quality care for medically complex children.
