Position Overview

We are looking for a proficient Mid-Level System Safety Engineer to support NAVAIR initiatives, particularly in the Navy's Autonomous Aircraft program. This role involves assisting in the management of technical activities that align with sponsor goals and best engineering practices. The position requires an active U.S. DoD Top Secret Security Clearance.
Key Responsibilities

Primary Duties:

  • Offer program-level and cross-project technical advice on system safety in collaboration with the Assistant Program Manager for Systems Engineering (APMSE).
  • Engage with diverse stakeholders and represent the program in technical exchange forums.
  • Assess technical risks and recommend mitigation strategies related to system safety.
  • Adapt engineering standards and controls to ensure effective technical oversight of technology projects.
  • Establish and monitor project technical transition criteria.
  • Assist with additional technical responsibilities as directed by the Program Lead or APMSE.
  • Occasional travel (approximately 10%) may be required for this role.
Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  • Possess a Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Maintain an active U.S. DoD Top Secret Security Clearance.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in DoD research and development (R&D) procurement.
  • Demonstrated expertise and practical knowledge in System Safety Engineering, including analysis, demonstration, and testing.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Experience in coordinating operations across various organizational boundaries.
  • Background in a demanding, schedule-constrained, and complex security environment.
