Expectations of the Role
- Establish assessments of patient capabilities and their ability to engage in health-related activities.
- Select appropriate treatment models and methods to guide interventions.
- Implement strategies to enhance safety and performance in daily living activities.
- Educate patients on innovative approaches to tasks and assist in breaking down activities into manageable steps.
- Evaluate patient environments to recommend necessary modifications based on their needs.
- Advise on adaptive equipment and provide training on its use.
- Support and educate family members and caregivers as required.
- Monitor and document progress towards treatment goals.
Qualifications
- Valid OT license in the state of practice.
- Minimum of two years of experience as an occupational therapist.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to demonstrate initiative and independent judgment.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and reliable transportation.
- Proof of current automobile insurance.
- Clearance from a criminal background check.
- Negative TB test result.
- Current CPR certification.
Physical and Mental Requirements
This role requires significant physical effort, including activities such as kneeling, squatting, reaching, and lifting patients weighing up to 100 pounds. Candidates must possess the necessary sensory capabilities or utilize adaptive devices to perform essential job functions.
Additionally, the ability to work independently, make informed decisions based on assessments, and manage emotional stress is crucial for success in this position.
Work Setting
The position involves working in both office settings and patient residences, necessitating travel to and from various locations.
