Job Summary

As a CDL Driver - Transportation Specialist at Smurfit Westrock, you will be responsible for safely transporting raw materials and finished goods from customer locations to our plant, or from our plant to a paper mill. You will be required to comply with all DOT regulations and perform inspections on trucks and trailers, maintaining accurate paperwork. Additionally, you will assist in loading and unloading of trucks or trailers, and may be required to operate a tractor trailer, box truck, or roll-off truck.

Key Responsibilities
  • Comply with WestRock safety rules and DOT regulations.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicles and report any needed repairs to your supervisor.
  • Maintain and service vehicles as needed, including refueling, checking fluids, and checking tire pressures.
  • Efficiently follow assigned daily pickup and drop-off schedules.
  • Maintain accurate and legible paperwork for daily pickups and drop-offs.
  • Ensure contents are secure in or on the truck or trailer prior to transporting.
  • Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive according to weather and road conditions.
  • Assist in loading or unloading of trucks if required.
  • Perform other job duties as needed.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) required.
  • Clean driving record with no moving violations.
  • Must pass a background check and drug screen.
  • Skilled at driving and parking large, heavy vehicles and/or trailers.
  • Alert, focused, and detail-oriented.
  • Physically and mentally fit.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating procedures, directions, and routing assignments.
  • Ability to operate a forklift and pallet jack.
  • Flatbed cargo securement may be required.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed.
  • Ability to maintain good attendance.
  • Ability to perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
