The Pharmacy Technician - Patient Care Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of prescription processing at Mountainlands Community Health Center Inc. This position requires strong communication and customer service skills to effectively interact with patients, providers, and insurance companies.
Key Responsibilities- Verify patient information and confirm prescriptions before dispensing medications
- Process incoming prescriptions, including phone, in-person, and e-prescribe orders
- Communicate with providers and medical support staff to answer patient questions and ensure quality care
- Field patient inquiries and contact doctor's offices or hospitals to clarify prescription information
- Document referrals for 340b and attach consult notes
- Coordinate with insurance companies to troubleshoot prescription questions in a timely manner
- Validate homeless patient vouchers (Medicaid) and discount program products
- Assist the pharmacist with maintaining medication inventory and placing orders as needed
- Initiate and participate in quality communication among pharmacy staff members and throughout the organization
- Associate degree in Pharmaceutical Technology or Pharmacy Technical School National Certification
- Active Utah Certification, including completion of all externship hours
- Excellent verbal communication and customer service skills
- Technical knowledge and computer skills, including data entry and basic quantitative abilities
- Bilingual: English/Spanish, preferred but not required
- Current CPR certification and personal immunization records
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, integrity, and availability of all MCHC records, PII, and PHI
- Reliable transportation
This role is performed in a professional office environment, requiring the ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds, and to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, and peripheral vision, as well as depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
