Job Description

Johnson Controls is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our Water-Based Fire Suppression New Product Introduction (NPI) team at our R&D facility in Cranston, RI.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop water-based fire protection products or system concepts and detailed designs.
  • Conduct prototype generation and testing to international standards.
  • Maintain records of design process in accordance with sound design practice and ISO requirements.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, fire protection engineering, or a related technical discipline from an accredited university.
  • A minimum of 6 years relevant experience in mechanical piping and water supply products design.
  • Self-directed; able to strategize on test plans without established protocols; strong on-time and quality project delivery.
  • Experience with mechanical design software; AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar design software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite Applications (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) and Internet software and E-mail.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree.
  • 10+ years relevant experience in mechanical piping and water supply products design with at least 3 years of which is directed toward design of sprinklers.
