Job Summary

Mass General Brigham is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our team on a per diem basis. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and timely delivery of medications to patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the mission of the Pharmacy department by ensuring the right patient receives the right medications in a safe and timely manner under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist.
  • Develop a full understanding of the drug distribution system and demonstrate competency in carrying out all duties associated with delivering medications to patient care areas.
  • Use Pyxis automated dispensing system, Meditech computer software, and prepare IV admixtures, including chemotherapy.
  • Assist IV Pharmacist in sterile compounding, assemble and prepare ingredients to manufacture IV Admixtures, small and large volume parenterals, irrigation solutions, skin tests, and other sterile dosage forms.
  • Fills and delivers medications requested by nursing units and, as needed, for Pyxis automated dispensing machine after complete check by a registered pharmacist.
  • Perform good customer service skills via telephone or in person at Pharmacy window and while rounding on patient care areas.
  • Perform monthly stock checks for expired medications, performs and records daily temperature checks of nursing unit refrigerators, and assembles and prepares medications for unit dose prepackaging.
  • Perform monthly nursing unit inspections and uses Meditech information system to charge/credit/view sensitive patient data.
Requirements
  • High School diploma required.
  • Training as a Hospital Pharmacy Technician strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with medical/drug terminology and abbreviations.
  • Demonstrated ability to walk and stand 70% of the time and to lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Must be exCPT or PTCB certified, or a registered pharmacy intern with the state of Massachusetts.
  • Must be Registered with the Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician or Intern.
  • Excellent communication and computer skills.
