Position Overview

The Test Facilities Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering (TFOME) contract at a leading research center is in search of an Electrical Test Engineer.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct a range of tasks involving analysis, design, execution, and/or project oversight of diverse electrical, instrumentation, control, and data systems for facilities and specialized equipment.
  • Design and create electronic integrated circuits, control systems, data acquisition hardware, subsystems, and systems for specialized processes and aerospace equipment; integrate various sensors into process systems and testing apparatus.
  • Offer technical expertise in programming, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting PC/Unix systems, data acquisition systems, and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
  • Guide electronics technicians and electricians in the installation, testing, calibration, troubleshooting, and operation of electrical, control, data, and instrumentation systems.
  • Develop and revise schematics, drawings, calibration documents, and technical procedures.
  • Integrate controls and instrumentation into PLC hardware and software, and specify instrumentation and signal conditioning equipment.
  • Prepare procurement requests and specifications for electronic/electrical equipment. Assess vendor proposals and provide technical insights for purchasing decisions.
  • Support both large and small-scale testing operations, including the management of control, instrumentation, and data systems.
  • Design and maintain communication networks utilizing TCP/IP protocols.
  • Formulate plans and requirements for the enhancement and upkeep of facility data acquisition systems and software.
  • Assist with specialized tasks requiring detailed engineering analysis.
  • Create presentations and participate in design reviews, safety assessments, and other technical discussions.
Required Qualifications
  • A Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Computer, Electrical, or a related engineering field.
  • Specialized knowledge or experience in one or more areas related to Electrical, Electronic, Data Systems, or Computer Engineering.
  • Familiarity with specialized devices such as limit switches, pressure, vacuum and flow switches, proximity sensors, flame and gas detectors, photocells, thermocouples, and transducers.
