Job SummarySouth Shore Health is seeking a skilled Rheumatologist to join our team at SSMC. As a Rheumatologist, you will provide and manage direct health care for a specified patient population, including physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses, and treatment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides and manages direct patient care, including physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses, and treatment for a specified patient population.
- Prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions.
- Refers patients to specialists and to relevant patient care components as appropriate.
- Manages patient medications and prescribes appropriate medications as needed.
- Orders and interprets laboratory studies, x-rays, and other diagnostic tests.
- Makes referrals to other healthcare providers for comprehensive patient care.
- Establishes a therapeutic patient-health care provider relationship.
- Directs and coordinates the patient care activities of nursing and support staff as required.
- Documents patient clinical activities clearly, concisely, and within the expected time frames as outlined in the Medical Records Completion and Documentation Policy.
- Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties assigned.
Requirements
- Medical Doctor Degree; residency program
- State licensure, Board Certification or board eligible in area of expertise. Federal DEA license. ALS certification.
- Preferably at least 3 years of directly related experience which may include residency in a directly related medical specialty.
