GENERAL PURPOSE

The 3rd Grade Classroom Instructor is primarily tasked with enhancing the instructional program by facilitating learning and skill development within an elementary classroom setting. This role involves creating lesson plans and delivering both group and individualized instruction in accordance with established curriculum standards. The instructor will supervise students, collaborate with fellow educators and administrators to address instructional matters, and respond to inquiries from parents or guardians regarding student progress and the educational program.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Administers required testing programs and specific assignments to evaluate student competency levels and develop personalized learning plans.

Communicates with parents and guardians about student progress, expectations, achievements, and strategies for reinforcing classroom objectives at home.

Analyzes assessment data to enhance student performance.

Evaluates student progress towards academic goals and provides constructive feedback to students, parents, and administration.

Collaborates with educational staff, school personnel, parents, and community resources to improve student outcomes and achieve classroom objectives aligned with the school improvement plan.

Provides counseling to students to enhance performance, health, problem-solving skills, and address personal issues.

Demonstrates instructional methods to effectively address individual student needs.

Oversees student teachers, paraprofessionals, volunteers, and student aides to ensure a productive classroom environment.

Facilitates student learning by creating an engaging learning atmosphere, integrating technology, organizing field trips, and planning age-appropriate activities to foster academic and social skills.

Instructs students to improve their academic success through a structured curriculum.

Maintains accurate records of student performance and progress in compliance with established guidelines and legal requirements.

Manages student behavior to create a safe and conducive learning environment, monitoring students in various educational settings.

Participates in meetings to share and gather information necessary for fulfilling job responsibilities.

Prepares documentation related to student progress and compliance with mandated requirements.

Reports health and safety concerns to appropriate personnel to ensure student safety and compliance with regulations.

Responds to emergencies to address immediate safety issues and coordinates with relevant personnel for resolution.

Addresses inquiries from various stakeholders to resolve issues and provide necessary information.


QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required.
Certificates, Licenses and Other Special Requirement
Must possess Missouri Early Childhood Education B-3, Elementary Education K-8, 1-8, or 1-6 certification, depending on the grade level.
Ability to achieve and maintain "Highly Qualified" status as defined by Missouri's Department of Elementary and Secondary Education is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Required competencies include knowledge of relevant laws, policies, teaching strategies, and child development stages.

Ability to analyze and interpret complex information, communicate effectively, and implement desired actions.

Skills in managing multiple tasks, utilizing office equipment, and maintaining accurate records are essential.

Ability to work collaboratively with diverse individuals and adapt to changing circumstances.

Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are necessary for improving work processes.

Must maintain confidentiality, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.

Ability to set high expectations for self and others and provide constructive feedback for continuous improvement.

Physical demands include some lifting, carrying, and standing for extended periods in a clean and healthy environment.

Additional physical abilities required include manual dexterity, hearing, and visual acuity.
