Newspaper Advisor

Stillwater Area Public Schools is seeking a skilled and dedicated individual to serve as the Newspaper Advisor for our middle school. The successful candidate will be responsible for guiding students in developing their skills in reporting, writing, and producing news, while fostering creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration.

• Oversee and advise students involved in the production of school news content, including writers, editors, videographers, and other media contributors.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive middle school news program that aligns with school policies and district regulations.
• Provide guidance and support to students in developing their journalistic skills, including reporting, writing, and broadcasting.
• Ensure the success of the school news program by maintaining journalistic integrity, encouraging student growth, and promoting the school's image.

• Strong knowledge of journalistic ethics, news production, and relevant media technology.
• Previous experience in teaching or overseeing student-led journalism, broadcasting, or news-related activities.
• Ability to organize and supervise a comprehensive middle school news program.
• Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, staff, and parents.

The Newspaper Advisor will work in a fast-paced environment, requiring flexibility and adaptability. The position may require additional time outside of the school day, including evenings and weekends, to cover events, edit content, and prepare for school-wide announcements.
