About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Trauma Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to join our dynamic trauma team at Stony Brook University Hospital. The selected candidate will provide high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment, working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to manage critically injured patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive assessments of trauma patients, including history taking, physical examinations, and ordering/interpretation of diagnostic tests.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with trauma surgeons, intensivists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Provide advanced clinical care, including wound management, suturing, and other procedures as necessary.
- Monitor patient progress, adjusting treatment plans based on clinical findings and patient response.
- Participate in trauma resuscitation and provide support in emergency situations.
- Educate patients and their families on injury prevention, treatment options, and post-discharge care.
- Collaborate with the trauma team to ensure continuity of care from admission through discharge and follow-up.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and trauma research projects.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
