Medical Care Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Care Tech II to join our team at Regional One Health. As a Medical Care Tech II, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients and families.
Key Responsibilities- Provide timely and effective medical care to patients in emergency and urgent care areas.
- Assist nursing and medical staff in providing patient care activities, including physical exams, routine tests, and administering IVs as required.
- Prepare patients for examination, ensure equipment is available, and observe restraints and forensic policies.
- Schedule diagnostic laboratory and radiological tests as ordered and transport patients safely and efficiently.
- Maintain inventory of patient belongings and provide measures of comfort and convenience.
- Observe and report patient responses to interventions and treatment, and complete all documentation requirements in a timely manner.
- Provide one-on-one care to patients requiring close observation and monitoring, and obtain medical and lab records as needed.
- Communicate unit activities, needs, and problems to appropriate staff regarding patient care, and follow up with patients as required.
- Collaborate with forensic team and law enforcement officials to maintain a safe and secure environment, and respond to emergency situations and crisis interventions.
- Perform diagnostic EKGs, inform and explain test purposes and procedures to patients, and ensure accurate documentation.
- Collect specimens and perform phlebotomy functions efficiently, and calms and reassures anxious or apprehensive patients.
- Interact and communicate with patients, families, and staff in a customer-responsive and courteous manner, and promote patient satisfaction.
- Collaborate with medical and hospital staff to coordinate and implement patient care activities, and maintain confidentiality in matters relating to patient/family, department, and hospital information.
- Respond to emergency situations and notify appropriate personnel, and complete required continuous training and education, including department-specific requirements.
- Assist with care and maintenance of department equipment, and utilize supplies in a cost-effective manner.
- Maintain a clean, orderly, safe environment for patients and personnel, and adhere to established policies, compliance/quality improvement, and patient safety, environment, and infection control standards.
- High School graduate or equivalent required.
- Successful completion of an approved EMT program, including completion of an approved IV course, or Advanced EMT program, or Paramedic program required.
- Qualified by education, training, or experience to work with the adolescent, adult, and/or geriatric patient population as specialty assignment dictates required.
- EMT license, along with proof of IV certification, or EMT-P (paramedic) license, or Advanced EMT license required.
- Basic Life Support Certification required.
- License must be approved by the state of Tennessee. If licensed in TN or AR, applicant must apply for TN reciprocity within 180 Days required.
- Six (6) months EMT or EMT-P (paramedic) experience required.
