Hood Industries, Inc is looking for a Production Area Manager to oversee operations at our plywood manufacturing facility. This is a new site that will accommodate a workforce of up to 250 individuals. As a Production Area Manager, you will be instrumental in ensuring that designated sections function in the safest, most efficient, and profitable manner.
Objective:
Guide your designated manufacturing section by applying the Hood Management Philosophy known as "The Hood Way" by engaging Personnel and managing through Procedures to promote sustainable Results while fostering positive employee relations, achieving the company's production objectives, and adhering to company policies, guidelines, and regulatory standards.
Core Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) for the designated sections, including budgets, productivity, inventory levels, safety, quality, etc.
- Prepare and track quarterly, monthly, and weekly budgets and forecasts as necessary.
- Collaborate with direct reports to set performance targets for designated sections and mentor staff to meet these targets.
- Provide direction and leadership to supervisors and nurture promising employees for future roles. Foster cooperation and collaboration among plant personnel.
- Address operational, scheduling, and production challenges as they arise.
- Consistently promote a commitment to customer satisfaction for both internal and external clients.
- Establish consistent processes, standards, and expectations for the designated sections to ensure ongoing performance within company, regulatory, and legal frameworks.
- Exemplify professional conduct and leadership for others.
- Support the establishment of a reliability maintenance and continuous improvement culture throughout the facility.
- Drive the continuous improvement initiative through direct reports.
- Associate or bachelor's degree preferred; relevant experience may substitute for formal education.
- 3-5 years of supervisory experience.
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing setting, with prior experience in wood products preferred.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Solid understanding of plant/manufacturing processes.
- Exceptional technical aptitude.
- Strong commitment to teamwork and collaboration.
