POSITION TITLE:
Nurse Educator

JOB SUMMARY:
The Nurse Educator will implement a comprehensive health services program within the educational environment. This role is essential in providing health services to students and fostering health education and preventive practices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Deliver immediate and emergency care for students or staff as per established protocols.
  • Act as a health advocate for the student body.
  • Inform guardians of any health-related incidents and ensure medical assistance is provided when necessary.
  • Oversee the administration of medications to students, adhering to established guidelines.
  • Conduct health screenings as mandated by relevant health authorities and refer students as needed.
  • Develop and continuously evaluate the campus health program, implementing improvements based on findings.
  • Contribute to the creation of health education curricula and provide instruction to both individuals and groups.
  • Offer health counseling and guidance to students on an individual basis.
  • Serve as a liaison among the school, healthcare providers, families, and the community.
  • Assess student health issues and coordinate referrals with relevant stakeholders.
  • Engage in various committees and teams focused on student welfare and health.
  • Participate in the identification and reporting of suspected child abuse cases.
  • Conduct home visits to address student health concerns when necessary and with appropriate permissions.
  • Maintain regular communication with school leadership regarding health service matters.
  • Review immunization documentation and ensure compliance with health regulations.
  • Ensure adherence to health service protocols and guidelines.
  • Supervise and mentor nursing aides in clinic operations.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to student health services.
  • Manage inventory and requisition necessary supplies for the health clinic.
  • Adhere to all applicable federal and state health regulations and district policies.
  • Report any health and safety risks to school administration.
  • Follow all district and campus operational procedures.
  • Maintain certifications in CPR/AED and health screenings.
  • Exhibit professional and ethical behavior at all times.
  • Ensure confidentiality in all health-related matters.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of two years of nursing experience.
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Valid registered nurse license in the state.
  • Certification in vision and hearing screening (to be obtained within a specified timeframe).
  • Current CPR/AED certification.

SKILLS:
  • Proficient in health assessments to identify student health needs.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Able to implement and follow health policies and procedures effectively.

SUPERVISORY ROLE:
Responsible for guiding the work of nursing aides.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Maintain composure under pressure while managing exposure to health-related risks.
