Fairview Health Services is seeking a skilled Cardiac Ultrasound Specialist to become a vital member of our Electrocardiology team. This role is essential in providing high-quality non-invasive cardiac imaging to assist healthcare professionals in diagnosing and managing heart conditions.
Work Schedule:
This position operates at 0.6 FTE, equating to 48 hours biweekly, with an 8-hour day shift. Additionally, the role includes a weekend rotation once a month.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Cardiac Ultrasound Specialist, your primary duties will include:
- Conducting various echocardiograms in accordance with established protocols.
- Performing transthoracic echocardiograms.
- Executing exercise and pharmacological echocardiograms.
- Utilizing contrast agents during echocardiograms as necessary.
- Assisting physicians with transesophageal echocardiograms.
- Preparing echocardiograms for analysis, including generating accurate preliminary reports.
- Engaging in quality assurance initiatives aligned with ICAEL and laboratory standards.
- Participating in quality improvement projects.
- Conducting correlation studies.
- Completing required continuing medical education (CME).
- Contributing to research studies as required.
- Performing various clerical tasks to support efficient departmental operations.
- Managing patient registration.
- Restocking laboratory supplies as needed.
- Ensuring cleanliness of echo equipment and rooms after each use.
- Preparing media for external interpretation.
- Meeting all role-related and age-specific competencies.
- Demonstrating the ability to adjust care approaches based on the developmental and cultural needs of patients.
- Collaborating with caregivers in care and decision-making processes.
- Communicating respectfully with patients and colleagues.
- Maintaining a safe and secure environment.
- Customizing care plans to address individual patient needs.
- Modifying clinical interventions based on the population served.
- Providing patient education tailored to the assessed learning needs of patients and caregivers.
Qualifications:
Required:
- BLS Certification
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonography (RCS) certification to be obtained within six months of hire.
Preferred:
- Associate's degree in Echocardiography
- 1 to 3 years of experience in Echocardiography
