Radiology Imaging Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Radiology Imaging Specialist to join our team at the University of Miami. As a key member of our radiology department, you will be responsible for performing complex procedures in OR/Ambulatory environments, operating radiographic equipment to obtain high-quality diagnostic images with minimal radiation exposure.
Key Responsibilities- Obtain and examine radiology exam orders to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Ensure orders are appropriate for the type of exam recommended by physicians.
- Notify supervisors of any discrepancies and contact physicians' offices for correct orders if necessary.
- Identify patient service requirements by establishing personal rapport with patients and other individuals.
- Verify patient IDs, obtain necessary consents, and educate patients as needed.
- Perform complex specialized tasks associated with radiology scanners and related equipment, adhering to radiation safety procedures.
- Integrate diagnostic, laboratory results, patient history, and medical records to adapt exams as necessary.
- Adhere to Interventional Radiology protocols to maintain high-quality standards.
- Assist with invasive radiology guided procedures, starting IVs, and injecting contrast media as needed.
- Evaluate radiologic scans for technical quality, collate processed images, and label them appropriately.
- Charge procedures and supplies, load and operate power injectors, and maintain accurate patient records.
- Provide patient care, including physical and psychological needs, during scanning procedures.
- Assume care for patients during medical emergencies, perform CPR as needed, and report unusual findings to radiologists or supervisory personnel.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; graduate of accredited Radiologic Technology/Diagnostic Imaging Program.
- State of Florida License as a General Radiographer; ARRT registered and ARRT Certified in Vascular Interventional Radiography or within one year of hire date.
- CPR and BLS certification required.
- Three years of relevant experience preferred; will consider new graduates from accredited schools.
