Educational Background
- Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy or a related discipline is preferred.
- An Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy is mandatory.
Professional Experience
- A minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in critical care is required.
- Preferred experience includes 5+ years in adult respiratory care.
Skills and Competencies
- Comprehensive knowledge of adult clinical care, including advanced therapies such as mechanical ventilation and airway management.
- Exceptional oral and written communication abilities.
- Highly motivated and innovative, with the capacity to influence others.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse range of healthcare professionals.
Licensure and Certifications
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification is required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred.
- Current Ohio Respiratory Care License is mandatory.
- Membership in the American Association for Respiratory Care is required.
- Certification in at least one advanced national credential from the NBRC or NAECB is required.
- Neonatal/Pediatric Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification is preferred.
Position Details
Candidates must possess at least 5 years of experience in respiratory therapy, including critical care (ICU/ER) and NICU/PICU settings. Experience with pulmonary function tests (PFTs) is advantageous. This role operates on a day shift schedule, Monday through Friday, with a 24/7 on-call rotation required.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing and walking.
- Occasional sitting.
- Regular lifting and carrying of up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent pushing and pulling of equipment.
- Occasional climbing and balancing.
- Regular stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
- Constant communication and coordination skills are necessary.
