Job Summary

Community Action Organization is seeking a skilled Bus Driver to transport children enrolled in our Head Start program in a safe and efficient manner. The ideal candidate will possess a valid Oregon Commercial Driver's License and a strong commitment to providing excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transport children and family members to and from designated locations in a timely and safe manner.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the bus, adhering to all safety protocols and regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, children, and family members, providing clear and concise information about program events and schedules.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff and coordinators to ensure the smooth operation of the program.
  • Perform daily inspections of the bus to ensure proper maintenance and safety standards.
Requirements
  • Valid Oregon Commercial Driver's License (Type B or C) with endorsements for School Bus Transport (S) and Passenger Transport (P).
  • Valid Oregon School Bus Driver Certificate issued by the Oregon Department of Education (ODE).
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work as a collaborative team member with teachers and coordinators.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish, written and verbal.
  • Previous employment working with children ages 3-5.
Work Environment

The Bus Driver will work primarily on a bus or outdoors in all weather conditions. The work environment is fast-paced and requires the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
