This position involves professional accounting duties, focusing on the independent examination and distribution of state financial documents, including payroll warrants, while applying various accounting competencies within the agency's financial framework.

A skills assessment will be conducted during the interview, which will include tasks related to warrants and proficiency in Excel.

The role includes maintaining the general ledger for the agency, managing diverse funds, or overseeing subsidiary ledgers.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Distributing expense and salary warrants to ensure accurate and timely delivery.
  • Maintaining FedEx label files and contact information, preparing daily performance reports, and managing daily warrant distribution.
  • Reconciling payment voucher schedules with vendor invoices and conducting quality assurance on disbursement vouchers.
  • Assisting with warrant cancellations, duplicate requests, and requests for copies.
  • Managing and researching refund checks, logging incoming checks for weekly review.
  • Executing independent, complex fiscal/accounting tasks for the Financial Services Support Center.
  • Performing accounting duties that involve professional techniques such as vouchers and warrant distribution.
  • Recommending modifications to accounting procedures and aiding in the development of new processes.
  • Researching and resolving payment inquiries, effectively communicating outcomes to requestors.
  • Processing standard and electronic mail, analyzing payment documents, and preparing voucher schedules for record retention.
  • Assisting with research and training to ensure compliance with internal control procedures and accounting standards.
  • Demonstrating the ability to create tables and tracking logs using Excel.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Familiarity with accounting principles, practices, and procedures is essential.
Ability to prepare financial statements and reports.
Capability to analyze and interpret accounting data.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work independently and foster effective working relationships.
Strong analytical skills and proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.

Minimum Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or two years of professional accounting experience, including experience with computer accounting systems.
Two years of experience utilizing Excel for tracking and reporting.
