Position Purpose:
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a vital role under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) in the formulation, execution, and assessment of the nursing care plan for assigned patients within the unit.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts venipuncture for IV access and blood specimen collection.
- Administers 12 lead EKGs as required.
- Documents patient observations and their reactions to nursing interventions and treatments.
- Engages in various nursing tasks related to patient care as directed by the RN.
- Identifies emergency situations, seeks necessary assistance, and responds effectively in accordance with established protocols.
- Takes personal accountability for maintaining safe work practices and ensuring patient safety.
- Mentors and oversees other LPNs, Technicians, and Nurse Aides in delivering patient care and assists in onboarding new personnel.
- Implements recognized Infection Control procedures.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor or designated authority.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must possess a valid license or authorization to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of New York.
