Audiology Extern

The Audiology Extern is a key member of our team at UnityPoint Health, responsible for providing diagnostic and rehabilitative audiology services to patients of all ages. As a clinical assistant, you will work under the guidance of a fully credentialed and licensed audiologist to deliver high-quality patient care.

• Care Delivery
  • Receive referrals and screen patients to determine the need for intervention
  • Interpret evaluation findings and develop treatment plans, including goal setting
  • Carry out treatment plans and coordinate with patients, families, and care teams
  • Monitor patient responses and modify treatment as needed
  • Provide input to improve patient safety and follow all policies and procedures
• Documentation and Quality
  • Document patient assessment, treatment, and follow-up results
  • Review and analyze the quality and appropriateness of audiology services
  • Report any issues or concerns to the mentor or supervisor
• Communication and Teamwork
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and care teams
  • Utilize a family-centered approach to care
  • Work collaboratively with the care team to achieve patient goals

• Education
  • Actively enrolled as a 4th-year student in an accredited audiology program
• Skills and Abilities
  • Must read, write, speak, and comprehend English
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with people of diverse backgrounds
