Job SummaryThe Audiology Extern is a key member of our team at UnityPoint Health, responsible for providing diagnostic and rehabilitative audiology services to patients of all ages. As a clinical assistant, you will work under the guidance of a fully credentialed and licensed audiologist to deliver high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities- Care Delivery
- Receive referrals and screen patients to determine the need for intervention
- Interpret evaluation findings and develop treatment plans, including goal setting
- Carry out treatment plans and coordinate with patients, families, and care teams
- Monitor patient responses and modify treatment as needed
- Provide input to improve patient safety and follow all policies and procedures
- Documentation and Quality
- Document patient assessment, treatment, and follow-up results
- Review and analyze the quality and appropriateness of audiology services
- Report any issues or concerns to the mentor or supervisor
- Communication and Teamwork
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and care teams
- Utilize a family-centered approach to care
- Work collaboratively with the care team to achieve patient goals
- Education
- Actively enrolled as a 4th-year student in an accredited audiology program
- Skills and Abilities
- Must read, write, speak, and comprehend English
- Must be able to communicate effectively with people of diverse backgrounds
