Biotech Data Platform Architect

We are seeking a highly skilled Full Stack Engineer to join our dynamic team at Consilience. As a pioneering biotech startup, we are revolutionizing the field of multi-omics analyses through innovative software solutions.

Our seasoned founding team brings decades of experience in biological data analysis, statistical modeling, venture creation, and SaaS product development. Grounded in our strong scientific expertise in novel statistical and ML approaches, our mission is to leverage the latest technologies to help biotech companies analyze and derive insights from their omics data.

Responsibilities:

  1. Understand our prototype in detail and lead the engineering strategy to get to the launch of our commercial platform.
  2. Lead the end-to-end engineering execution across infrastructure, data engineering, product engineering, MLOps, web development, and security.
  3. Implement and orchestrate algorithms and models from an already developed prototype, working closely with data scientists.
  4. Architect and manage a scalable, secure, and reliable cloud-based infrastructure to support our data analysis platform.
  5. Write clean, efficient, versioned, and well-documented code. Maintain code quality, organization, and automatization.
  6. Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.
  7. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists and biologists, to define, design, and ship new features, while ensuring engineering supports the company's strategic objectives and timelines.
  8. Develop and integrate data visualization tools to present complex omics data intuitively.
  9. Identify and correct bottlenecks and fix bugs.
  10. Define and implement security and disaster recovery policies.
  11. Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends in omics data analysis.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of engineering experience
  • Strong expertise with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and proven experience in building and scaling cloud-based systems
  • Expertise in databases (SQL, NoSQL) and data lakehouse technologies (Databricks, Snowflake) is a huge plus ++
  • Experience with data visualization libraries such as Shiny, D3.js, Plotly, or similar is strongly preferred. +
  • Working knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD, MLOps, and FinOps methodologies and best practices is a plus. +
  • Experience with infrastructure as code technologies (Terraform or equivalent) and defining landing zones (RBAC, network, storage, policies, etc.) would be helpful longer-term. +
  • Proven experience as a Full Stack Developer or similar role.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field; advanced degrees are a plus.
  • Self-motivation, bias to action and ability to make quick decisions with little supervision. Previous experience in a startup environment would be ideal.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills are paramount. You will interface daily with the founders of the company and will meet with customers frequently.
  • Familiarity with omics data analysis, including genomics, proteomics, and metabolomics is a strong plus
  • Knowledge of machine learning and data science concepts.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
