Job DetailsWe're seeking a skilled and dedicated Construction Project Accountant to join our team. As a Construction Project Accountant, you'll play a critical role in managing the financial aspects of our construction projects, ensuring their financial success from start to finish. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing all financial aspects of construction projects, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Collaborating with project managers to develop project budgets and financial plans.
- Tracking and analyzing project costs, identifying any variances, and taking appropriate action to ensure project financial objectives are met.
- Preparing timely, accurate financial reports for project stakeholders, including project managers, clients, and senior management.
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant financial regulations and standards.
- Managing project cash flow and ensuring timely payment of invoices.
- Assisting with financial risk management, including identifying potential financial risks and developing mitigation strategies.
- Providing financial expertise and advice to project teams, helping them make informed financial decisions.
- Liaising with external auditors and managing project audits.
- Continuously improving project accounting processes and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
To be successful as a Construction Project Accountant, you'll need:
- A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A CPA or CMA designation would be an asset.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in construction accounting or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles and practices, including project budgeting, cost tracking, and financial reporting.
- Exceptional analytical skills, with the ability to analyze complex financial data and provide meaningful insights.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
- A results-oriented mindset, with a strong focus on achieving project financial objectives.
