Job Summary

We are currently seeking an experienced Traffic Engineer to support our growing Traffic Engineering Department in the Mid-Atlantic region. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering traffic engineering projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring compliance with locality and state DOT standards.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare design plans for various traffic engineering tasks involving intersection safety and multimodal improvements as well as large infrastructure projects;
  • Prepare traffic signal design plans for new intersections and signal modifications to facilitate multimodal accommodations;
  • Develop technical expertise in traffic management plan (TMP) and temporary traffic control plans, permanent signing and pavement marking plans;
  • Collaborate with diverse teams of professionals, including engineers, transportation planners, and landscape architects;
  • Attend project meetings with clients and assist Project Managers in various project management activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent;
  • 3-7 years of traffic engineering experience;
  • EIT certification required, PE preferred;
  • Proficiency in MicroStation or AutoCAD;
  • Familiarity with VDOT and/or DDOT standards, MUTCD and AASHTO;
  • Knowledge of traffic analyses software packages;
  • Self-starter with minimal oversight and attention to details;
  • Characteristics of a successful team member: self-motivated, accountable, exercises initiative and independent judgment, effective communicator, multi-tasker.
